U11 Blues Craig Parsons Andrew Pile  bmha.rep@blueshockey.ca
Hockey Background:
I have over 13 years of experience coaching hockey, soccer, and various other sports, both as a teacher with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and as a coach through the Gloucester Cougars/GOB Blues clubs.
  • I was head coach of the U10 Blues for the 2023/24 season, where we finished 4th in the regular season standing and tied for 3rd in upper bracket playoffs.
  • I was an assistant coach for the GOB Blues for 4 years (2019-2023; U10, U11, U12, U13). During my time as an assistant coach, the Blues won the Liftlock U10 Atom tournament, U10 league regular season championship, and the U10 playoff championship. They also finished second place in the U12 regular season, and won the Consolation Championship during the U13 season.
  • I was an assistant coach with Gloucester Cougars for 2 years (2017-2019, Novice B & C). During my time as an assistant coach for the Gloucester Cougars, the U9 Novice team won the regular season and playoff championship. I have also been the head coach of Dragons Soccer for the past three seasons (2022, 2023, 2024 -U12, U13, & U14).
  • As a teacher with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, I run and coach both the junior and intermediate soccer programs. I also coach and run the intramural floor hockey program.
Coaching Philosophy / Season Goal:
Create a positive, fun environment: Creating a positive, fun environment is paramount. Promoting the social aspect of a team and the friendships that can be
gained can go along a way in strengthening the work of the team. For me, fun and teamwork are cornerstones to a successful season - win or lose.

Skill-development: The focus on the team should not be on winning, but rather on the development of the players. Part of this development is ensuring fair ice for all players. No one player is bigger than the team itself. I get my guidance for skill development from Hockey Canada's Atom Player Pathway document.

Foster a solid work ethic: Positive reinforcement and constructive criticism allow
players to take control of their actions through practice. It develops a belief system that, as a coach, I believe in them. They practice correcting mistakes and gain confidence, which fosters a great work ethic. They feel motivated to try harder because their work has earned them positive rewards and feedback.

Teaching how to win and lose: It is not about the outcomes - it is about how you got there. Learning how to take a loss and looking at it as an opportunity to learn is a valuable lesson for players. As coach, I will stress the importance of maintaining the proper balance between winning and losing graciously. No one is perfect, there is always room for improvement, and we all live to fight another day with what we have learned. Recognize what they did well, acknowledge what they did not do so well and what needs to be practiced and improved for future games.

Respect and sportsmanship: I will always promote respect among players towards their teammates, coaches, opponents and referees. Importantly, I will lead by example and promote an inclusive, safe and respectful environment.

U12 Blues Chris Foster Chris Proulx  omha1.rep@blueshockey.ca
Hockey Background:
I have been playing hockey all my life starting my minor hockey career with the Cumberland Minor Hockey Association. I continue to play multiple times a week along with coaching duties. I have been an assistant coach with the Gloucester Cougars from 2019 to 2022 and most recently I have been assistant coach with the U10 in 2022/23 and the U11 Blues in 2023/24

Coaching Philosophy / Season Goal:
I believe the most important aspect of hockey is having fun while building their hockey skills. I work with players to ensure they are building on these skills, making friends, being team players, and getting physical exercise.  This will create a well-rounded player. I believe that building on the players skills will develop the team to be competitive in all the games that they play. Hockey can also teach players how to be good people, whether that is helping people in their day-to-day lives or trying their hardest at everything they do. My favourite part about hockey is seeing smiles on the faces of the players and I hope to have a positive impact on all the players that I coach.
